Product Description
Sodium Lactate, a sodium salt of lactic acid, naturally occurs in the skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and acts as an excellent humectant. It’s commonly used in skincare and soap products due to its ability to hold moisture better than glycerin. This versatile ingredient improves hydration, boosts skin barrier function, and mildly exfoliates. In soap formulations, it enhances hardness, helps with unmolding, and increases moisture retention in bars.
Suggested Uses:
- Cold Process Soap Making: At 1-3% of total oils, Sodium Lactate hardens soap, aids unmolding, and extends bar life. Add to cooled lye water. For easy unmolding, use 1 tsp per pound of oils.
- Skincare Formulations: Use at 0.5-5% in lotions, creams, and water-based products to enhance moisture retention and skin feel.
- Body Butters & Lotions: Increases moisture and keeps skin soft and hydrated.
Appearance: Clear, colorless liquid
pH Range: 6.5 – 8.5
